Our Response to COVID-19

COVID-19 Response // Updated: SEPT. 3, 2020

(Keep checking back for regular updates)

Hi friends, our leadership continues to discuss what is a prudent and godly response to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

We are walking in unique days and as the virus spreads in our city, there is a possibility that some of our members may contract the virus.  If that happens to you, remember we don't walk alone; God is with us and your pastors are standing next to you.

Adhering to the government of Ontario requirements and Toronto Public Health, we will be implementing precautionary steps; see below.

In-Person Services & Meetings:

Our Sunday services will continue to be streamed online and we will offer in-person attendance within in the guidelines; anyone will be able to book their spot on the church app, website or by calling the church phone #. Throughout the week there will be some small group in-person meetings.  All in-person meetings, the following guidelines may be implemented: temperature taken, screening questions asked, masks worn (outside of designated stage space), contact info collected and social distancing protocols followed.  Chairs, counters, chairs, washrooms, and high touch areas will be disinfected prior to our services -- (if multiples services, room will have a deep clean between services).

Stay Connected

We will be doing regular updating of our APP, website, and social media feeds.  We will continue to provide opportunity for our members to connect online and with some in-person opportunities.

We Are Here To Help!

As we watch what's happening across our world, it's hard not to get discouraged and gripped with fear.  I'm not sure where you turn when things are unsettling, I turn to God and His Words in the Bible to find comfort and stir my courage to press on; one such verse is this one:

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ~ Isaiah 41:10

Neighbours and friends, though we are not in the office at this time of social distancing, we are just a phone call or email away.  If you find yourself in trouble or needing help or fear is getting the best of you, call our help hotline: 416.203.7117 or email us at help@churchinthecity.ca. We really are in this together, so let's stay together.

Safe Grocery Shopping Practices

Hi friends, as we are all experiencing, there many areas of our lives right now that are being impacted by COVID-19. From practicing social distancing to doing our part to check in on family and neighbours through social media to being more mindful of the everyday practice of just washing our hands.

On growing area of concern for some people is the act of buying and handling groceries during this pandemic. Watch the video created by a physician ... good information. Hopefully it will provide you with some ideas.

Proper Hand Washing Practices

Friends, one of the ways you can protect yourself, your families and those around you is by regularly washing your hands. See the picture on the left for best practices.  Ideally, if you wash your hands for 20 sec each time you leave and return home and a few times between, you will help protect yourself and the ones you love.
